Description
Following the success of Hello, My Name is Paul Smith at the Design Museum in 2013, the exhibition toured Japan in 2016 with dedicated stops in Kyoto, Tokyo and Nagoya. This special Japanese edition of the book – Hello Japan – was developed as the official catalogue for the tour, celebrating Paul Smith’s forty-year career in fashion, retail and visual culture.
As Editor, I worked directly with Paul Smith and his studio to shape the art direction and editorial approach for both the Japanese and Korean editions. My responsibilities included managing relationships with exhibition venues, coordinating translation workflows and ensuring the final product reflected Paul Smith’s signature tone – one of humour, elegance and cultural eclecticism.
The Japanese edition sold out during the exhibition tour and remains a collector’s item that captures the spirit of the brand: a blend of British tailoring, global references and playful design.
