Description
Marking a decade of the Design Museum’s Designs of the Year award, this book captures a period of intense innovation and cultural change – from the launch of the iPhone to Google’s self-driving car, and Shepard Fairey’s iconic campaign poster for Barack Obama to the Pussyhat protest against Donald Trump.
Divided into six categories – architecture, digital, fashion, graphics, product and transport – the book features all nominations and winners selected by over 200 expert nominators, spanning work by Zaha Hadid, Herzog & de Meuron, Studio Formafantasma, and many more.
As Editor, I managed all aspects for this substantial tome, curating and coordinating nearly 1,000 images and writing descriptive captions for each entry. Working with a dedicated picture researcher, I oversaw the tracking and rights clearance process for over 900 individual rights holders, managing quality control, permissions and consistency across this vast and varied visual archive. I also worked closely with the Design Museum’s director, Deyan Sudjic, and Head of Collections, Tom Wilson, to shape the book’s narrative tone, translating complex design topics and histories accessible to both specialist and general audiences.
