Description
Produced to accompany the Design Museum’s bestselling exhibition Charlotte Perriand: The Modern Life, this extensively illustrated publication traces the career and legacy of one of the twentieth century’s most influential designers. From her early collaborations with Le Corbusier to her own pioneering approach to interiors and architecture, the book explores Perriand’s enduring philosophy of ‘the art of living’.
As Project Editor, I managed the publication from concept through to delivery, working closely with the Archives Charlotte Perriand and the Fondation Louis Vuitton. The role required careful handling of historic materials, extensive rights negotiations (including with DACS), and a close editorial relationship with the curatorial team and contributors.
In addition to standard editorial responsibilities, I oversaw the translation and editing of French-language texts, ensuring the tone was accessible while maintaining scholarly accuracy. The result is a definitive volume that brings together visual richness and academic depth, balancing technical architectural terminology with a narrative that appeals to both experts and design enthusiasts.
Contributors include Tim Marlow, Justin McGuirk, Tim Benton, Jacques Barsac, Penny Sparke, Glenn Adamson, Sébastien Cherruet and Jane Hall.
